Linen Twill (135cm wide)
Pure linen twill is the traditional fabric used for crewel embroidery, it is a specialist fabric that has become very difficult to find. It is quite thick, dense fabric and the twill weave is very fine so that the threads of the fabric close up around the stitches. It is only available in one colour, which is a golden natural shade, this is a beautiful flattering background to most colours that you might choose to work with.

A fat quarter is a metre of fabric cut in half, length wise and then width wise, a slim third is a metre cut in to three lengthwise and is useful for bell pulls.
